Friday: Woodwind, brass and 150 voices will reverberate in the Cathedral of St. Paul in a performance of Bruckner's Mass in E Minor by VocalEssence. "When it comes to music of Germany and Austria of the 19th century, the conductor you want is Helmuth Rilling," says VocalEssence director Philip Brunelle, referring to the evening's guest maestro. The first half of the program features the smaller Ensemble Singers in motets by Bruckner and Mendelssohn. (8 p.m. Fri., 239 Selby Av., St. Paul, $10-$30, 612-371-5642, or www.vocalessence.org.)
