Biking complaint. A bike race with participants riding four to five abreast was reported in the 12000 block of Keller Avenue. The complainant also said no notice of the race was given and it seemed informally run.
LAKE ELMO
JULY 14
Suspicious activity. An unoccupied vehicle was reported parked in front of a commercial construction site on 10th Street east of Inwood Avenue. Two adults with an infant walking back to the vehicle told a deputy they were looking for agates in the newly excavated area.
LAKE ST. CROIX BEACH
JULY 15
Suspicious activity. A female looking between houses in the 1500 block of Queens Avenue told authorities she was looking for her phone in an area she cuts through to get to the bike path.
MAHTOMEDI
JULY 17
Bicyclist in ditch. Someone reported witnessing a bicyclist ride into a ditch in the area of Dellwood Road and Lincolntown Avenue. The cyclist emerged from the ditch walking his bike and apparently unharmed. The caller thought the cyclist might be intoxicated. Authorities were unable to locate him.
JULY 19
Neighbor/parking complaint. A resident reported their neighbor had intentionally parked their truck to block his driveway. A deputy determined the vehicle was legally parked and told the complainant there was no city ordinance for spite/revenge parking.
SCANDIA
JULY 18
Suspicious vehicle report. A black Acura was reported stuck overnight in a strawberry field at Berry Patch Farms, 19221 Keystone Av. The complainant said there were suspicious items in the back seat of the vehicle that pulled it out of the field the next day.
JULY 19
Shooting complaint. Shooting was reported in the 13000 block of 195th Street, where a caller said she was having children over for a pool party. A deputy went to the area but didn't hear any shots and the complainant said the shooting stopped after she called.
STILLWATER
JULY 17
Compliment. Someone called the Sheriff's Department to say they were happy with how a deputy handled their situation and believed he truly cared about their safety.
WOODBURY
JULY 15
Missing/stolen dog. A resident in the 200 block of Pendryn Hill Bay reported their husky went missing and was possibly stolen. The complainant found the dog's electric fence collar under a tree and said the animal was not in the habit of leaving the yard. An officer driving the area found the dog, which jumped into the squad car when called.
JULY 16
Suspicious activity. Someone called police concerned about how many families may be living in a rental home because of the number of vehicles parked in the driveway and on the street. The caller said his wife observed people at the address lying in the front yard at 4:30 a.m. looking at the night sky. An officer advised he would pass along the information about the vehicles but advised there is nothing wrong with looking at the night sky.
JULY 18
Suspicious activity. A man was cited for crossing Woodbury Drive and then Hudson Road against the "Do not walk" sign. He had been observed earlier trying to return several items at Target, 449 Commerce Dr. The items appeared to be part of a recent retail alert involving certain products bought with fraudulent coupons being returned for full value. He was denied his returns.
JULY 19
Suspicious activity. A detour sign was reported dismantled and placed in the backyard of a home in the 11000 block of Eagle View Terrace.
