The U.S. House voted unanimously Monday to honor Pine City, Minn., Marine Corps Master Sgt. Daniel L. Fedder by designating a home-town post office in his name. Fedder, 34, died in the blast of an improvised explosive device in the Helmand province of Afghanistan, according to officials at Camp Pendleton, Calif.-based 1st Marine Logistics Group. Fedder, who grew up in Pine City, was an explosive ordnance disposal technician and was assigned to 1st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company at Camp Pendleton. The 16-year veteran had completed combat deployments to Iraq, in 2004 and in 2006, and did an overseas deployment with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2007, military officials said. He was on his first combat tour in Afghanistan when he died August 27, 2010.
