If it's been a while since you've strolled the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul, take time this weekend to visit the Minnesota Military Family Tribute. Dedicated last year, the tribute is the first of its kind in the country honoring military families. The tribute includes a tree-lined curved walkway; a "Gold Star Table" monument for those who lost loved ones, and Story Stones. Oh, the Story Stones. These carefully arranged boulders — there are 87, one for each Minnesota county — bear inscriptions of poignant snippets of correspondence between Minnesota soldiers and their families. The tribute is a lesson in military history, family strength and raw beauty. For more information, visit minnesotamilitaryfamilyfoundation.org.
