The St. Paul school board approved a new administrative position Tuesday night.

The capital improvements program director will be responsible for overseeing capital improvement projects and will work with plant operations on both facilities management and capital construction budgets and resources.

The position was created to help implement the district's multimillion-dollar Facilities Master Plan. The plan is a 10-year initiative to modernize and conduct maintenance on schools and other district buildings.

The director will report to the district's chief operations officer and to the superintendent. The director will also work closely with the district's chief finance officer.
