The hot weather that recently plagued the East is getting the boot. A strongcold front is kicking all the heat out of the way, and refreshing winds fromthe northwest are taking over. From Ohio to the spine of the Appalachians, temperatures reached 90 Tuesday.

Not so today with temperatures throughout the same area running 15 to 20degrees lower.

East of the Appalachians, it was still very warm today, but all the heat willbe erased under the cover of darkness. Thursday along the I-95 corridor fromWashington to Boston, temperatures will get no higher than the 70s.

There will also be a fairly stiff wind Thursday caused by the alignment of theflow at all levels. This condition allows some of the quicker winds from aboveto be transferred to the ground.
