The central part of the country will be in the grasp of a merciless heat wavethis weekend and beyond. The hot air is having easy access to this part of thecountry because the jet stream is displaced so far north.So how hot will it be? How about 99 degrees in Bismarck, North Dakota Sunday.

And folks in Denver can expect mid to upper 90s from Saturday on. Throughwestern Kansas, western Oklahoma and western Texas, it will easily get into the100s.

By the way, some of the hot air will swing eastward across the Midwest and theninto the mid-Atlantic Sunday and Monday.
