A broad area from the central Plains to the western flank of theAppalachians will get thoroughly soaked during the next several days. Verymoist air oozing northward from the Gulf of Mexico will be picked up by aseries of low pressure waves tracking toward the northeast. None of the stormswill be particularly strong, but you don't need much when the atmospherecontains a lot of water vapor.Widespread rainfall of 1-2 inches can be expected between now and Saturdayand from central Oklahoma toward the Ohio River Valley, rainfall could be asmuch as 5 or 6 inches. This will surely lead to major trouble from flashfloods.
