Legendary rapper KRS-One's organization Temple of Hip-Hop is sponsoring a show Sunday at the Varsity Theater , the "Hip-Hop Takes Action" concert, and there's quite an all-star list of local performers on the bill, including Brother Ali, St. Paul Slim, Desdamona, Unknown Prophets, Abstract Pack, Illuminous 3 and more. The point of the concert -- which won't actually feature KRS-One (the flyer is kind of deceiving) -- is to promote voter turnout for both Tuesday's primary and the November elections. Ali, Desdamona and Slim were out canvassing for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Matt Entenza on Friday, it should be noted (so it's not exactly a nonpartisan event). Proceeds from the concert are also going to the Minneapolis Prayer Center, which is in danger of being evicted. The event kicks off at 4 p.m. and should go well into the night. It's all-ages with a low cover of $8.
