Opened in 2011, Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails were conceived, in part, to boost the Iron Range's various resorts, restaurants and outdoor outfitters. The plan is working only because the new trails (designed by experienced cyclists) are top-notch. Twenty-five miles of packed-clay paths and single-track meander through a long-abandoned iron mine, giving way to dramatic rock formations and crystalline mine lakes (i.e., old mining pits filled with water). Beginners will enjoy plenty of wide, flat surfaces while advanced riders can head for veritable obstacle sources of hills, rocks, jumps and berms. cuyunalakesmtb.com
