ROBBINSDALE

Annual fall music festival relocatesThe Robbinsdale Area Schools' annual Fall Music Festival will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center instead of Orchestra Hall, where it's been held the last 14 years, because of construction there.

The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 and will feature the All-District Elementary Choir, Cooper and Armstrong Symphonic Bands, Symphony Orchestras, Bel Canto, Cantori and Concert Choirs. It will feature guest conductor Matthew Mehaffey, an associate professor of music at the University of Minnesota.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students.

BLOOMINGTON

Family Center earns top state ratingThe Bloomington/Richfield Family Center's preschool programs are among the first in the state to earn the award of getting four out of a possible four stars on the Parent Aware ratings. The awarded preschool programs include Kinderprep, Kids Count and Bright Beginnings.

The Parent Aware star rating system, which helps parents find high-quality programs, measures the best practices that are most predictive of school readiness, including curriculum, assessment, teacher qualifications and professional development. It's led by the Minnesota Department of Human Services in coordination with the Minnesota Office of Early Learning.

ST. LOUIS PARK

Foundation funds early learningThe TwinWest Chamber of Commerce Foundation is funding a new early learning program in St. Louis Park's Meadowbrook community aimed at narrowing the achievement gap.

Kids at Work is a three-year pilot program that will give pre-kindergarten education to young students who don't have access or have little access to educational programming.

EASTERN CARVER

High schools hold preview nightParents of eighth-graders can attend a preview night to learn more about Chaska and Chanhassen high schools this month.

The Eastern Carver County Schools will host the events to let parents meet the staff and tour the high schools.

Residents of Chaska can attend the Chaska High School parent preview event at 7 p.m. Nov. 8. Residents in Carver, Chanhassen and Victoria can attend the Chanhassen High School parent preview event at 7 p.m. Nov. 13.
