An area of low pressure north of Australia continues to organize slowly andcould become a tropical cyclone during the day Monday.The area of low pressure is located over the Arafura Sea, northeast ofDarwin, Australia. Environmental conditions appear to favor this system tocontinue to organize, and it should become a tropical cyclone during the dayMonday as the steering currents take the system to the west-northwest.

Locally heavy rain and gusty winds will impact parts of eastern Indonesiaearly this week as the system moves into the Banda Sea. Rough seas will alsocause mariners problems through at least the middle of the week.

The storm is expected to weaken by the middle of the week as strong windsbegin to pull the system in different directions.
