Tree Swallows are returning. Wednesday where I have my nesting boxes -- none. Twenty-four hours later -- many. They were hunting over a nearby pond, and sitting on the boxes. They feed exclusively in the air, on flying insects. The birds are easy to find in the spring as they soar and swarm over open water, looking for food. Bluebirds are back as well.
