The storm currently soaking Texas will not only return substantial snow to themid-Atlantic later in the week, but also push drenching rain across the South,threatening to trigger flash flooding.Rain will spread from Texas to the lower Mississippi Valley by the start ofThursday. The rain will then reach Pensacola, Fla., and Atlanta, Ga. laterThursday before invading the Carolinas and northern Florida Friday.

In addition to flash flooding problems, rain could create problems fortravelers. Motorists should prepare for slow travel due to rain reducingvisibility, spray from other vehicles, and water ponding on highways. Airlinepassengers will likely encounter delays.
