Commenter Stu tracks down a long-lost Minnesota sports figure every week. This week, we worry that he might be down to the last person standing. Stu? -----------

The Hunt Down

Name: Mike Fetters Claim to Fame, Minnesota: with the Twins non-tendering Jose Mijares this week, there's a very real chance that the Twins rich tradition of having at least one stout guy in the bullpen will end in 2012. One of those heavier fellows is journeyman reliever Mike Fetters, whose man journey took him to Minnesota in 2003, when he pitched in five whole games. Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: pitched for seven other teams in his MLB career, with his longest tenure being with the Brewers from 1992-1997. His most noteworthy attribute was not his girth, but rather his LaMaze breath/YouTube hamster motion before delivering a pitch (which is imitated here). The Pepperdine product was recently inducted into that school's Hall of Fame. Where He Is Now: works in the front office of the Arizona Diamondbacks along with fellow former Twins employees Bob Gebhard and Quinton McCracken. Is He on Twitter: plenty of Mike Fetterseses on there, but none appear to be him. Glorious Randomness: per Wiki, Fetters' first cousin, Stephen Totter, is an opera singer of some renown.
