Opening tonight: Argentine photographer Eduardo Blidner says his recent images are collaborations with their subjects, the drag queens of Buenos Aires. The queens' existence is "dreamlike," he says of the artists who perform in nightclubs, theaters, film, television and the world of fashion.
Blidner's new show is his third at Icebox, following the acclaimed "Tango Argentina" in 2000 and "City vs. City" in 2007. Playful, sensual, audacious, sexy and provocative, his drag queens are stylized denizens of the night who "create another disposable self," as one said. The Twin Cities' own Venus DeMars of local rock band All the Pretty Little Horses will be DJ at the opening. (Party 8 p.m.-midnight today. Free. Icebox Gallery, 1500 NE. Jackson St., Mpls. Show ends Feb. 7. 612-788-1790 or www.iceboxminnesota.com)
