Sunday night's Pro Bowl suddenly has become a very Vikings affair.
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, outside linebacker Anthony Barr and safety Harrison Smith were added to the Pro Bowl roster as injury replacements on Monday.
They will join running back Adrian Peterson and defensive end Everson Griffen in the annual showcase game, giving the Vikings, who went 11-5 and won the NFC North in 2015, five representatives.
That's the most for the Vikings since 2012, when they sent seven players to Hawaii. Only Peterson was among the initial selections to the Pro Bowl.
Bridgewater will replace Carson Palmer of the Arizona Cardinals, who is one of four original quarterback selections who will not play. Like Palmer, Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tom Brady of the Patriots, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers also asked out of the game for injury reasons.
And Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers is Super Bowl bound.
Bridgewater ranked 22nd in the NFL with 3,231 passing yards and was 26th with 14 touchdown passes, with nine interceptions.
He also rushed for three touchdowns in his second NFL season. This is the first Pro Bowl selection of his young career.
It is also the first nod for Barr and Smith, who are filling in for New England Patriots outside linebacker Jamie Collins and Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas, respectively.
"Being able to play in a game that's kind of like an all-star game, but it's not what I go out thinking about when I go out to play. I just go out and look for the win," Smith said in a team release. "I wish we were playing this past weekend; I wish we were playing [in the Super Bowl] two weekends from now so the Pro Bowl wasn't even a possibility."
In 13 games, Smith made 66 tackles, picked off a pair of passes and forced a fumble. He had his franchise-record fourth interception return for a touchdown against the Giants.
Barr, the ninth pick in the 2014 draft, had 68 tackles, 3.5 sacks and an interception.
The Pro Bowl will be played at 6 p.m. Sunday at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu and televised on ESPN.
The teams will be drafted on Wednesday.
