Gray Tree Frogs and Cope's Gray Tree Frog both live in our backyard, on the edges of our wetland. You can tell one from another only by their calls. So, this hunter, which appeared at one of our bedroom windows four nights ago, is one of those two species. Last night there were two identical frogs. They are hunting insects attracted by a bedside reading lamp. The window is 24 feet above ground, accessible, as far as I know, only by scaling the side of the house. The pads on the frogs' feet are sticky. Two nights ago one of the frogs had centered himself on the window pane. I missed that photo. The frogs from their ground point of view are determining that the window, on the west side of the house, is a good place to hunt, and then figure out that access is available only by climbing the north side to get there. Smart guys.
