If you live in southwest Minneapolis, and can't wait for next fall to get a bead on area candidates for the Minneapolis school board, there's an early-bird candidate forum coming up. The session is scheduled for.April 30 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Burroughs Community School auditorium, 1601 W. 50th St. The forum is intended for delegates to the May 19 DFL endorsing convention, but is open to the public. Announced candidates, all of whom are seeking DFL endorsement, include Tracine Asberry, Curtis Johnson, Alex Phung and David Weingartner. The proposed district generally lies south of Lake Street and west of Interstate 35W, except for the East Calhoun neighborhood. So far there is only one publicly declared candidate for each of the other two district seats to be filled this fall in the lakes-downtown and North Side districts.
