October will kick off with some walloping bass solos and guitar solos, thanks to new shows announced this week: Primus will return to the Orpheum Theatre on Oct. 1 as part of its second annual Oddity Faire Tour, which kicks off Sept. 14. Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster this Saturday at noon for $35. Openers have yet to be announced. The Roy Wilkins Auditorium also just announced a gig by (now ex-) Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society on Oct. 3, also featuring a pair of cult-loved openers, Clutch and Children of Bodom. Those tickets go on sale June 25 for $39.50. And a reminder to all you hard-toking hard-rockers that tickets to Stone Temple Pilots' Wilkins gig also go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m. ($52.50). I have to say, STP's gig there in 2008 truly was rock solid -- and that's despite the fact that (or so I strongy suspect) Scott Weiland pulled my reviewer tickets from will call to try to keep me out. Like I'm the first critic to mention the guy's been a major muck-up.
