Opening: Baritone Brian Mulligan sings the tortured Danish prince in Minnesota Opera's first production of this piece that opened on the Paris stage in 1868. French composer Ambroise Thomas found inspiration from an Alexander Dumas adaptation of Shakespeare's classic tragedy. Marie-Eve Munger, a coloratura soprano, sings sweet, doomed Ophelia in the production, which is being staged by Thaddeus Strassberger. He was at the helm last fall for "Nabucco" at the Ordway Center.
