A White Bear Lake insurance producer lost his license and was fined $10,000 for improperly handling policies on at least 40 occasions, according to an order by the Minnesota Department of Commerce in October. David B. Peterson failed to meet applicants before issuing binders, failed to obtain signatures and placed policies on properties without discussing the details with the homeowners, the department said. The investigation also found that Peterson completed applications that included inaccurate information about home improvements to help customers qualify. He made changes to coverage in the areas of personal liability, medical payments and sewer without the homeowners' knowledge or consent, the department wrote. Read the consent order here.
