Here's one scenario where it may have paid off for U.S. Bank Stadium to have a roof.
Country music titan George Strait has again postponed his summer date at the Vikings football stadium in Minneapolis out of COVID-19 safety concerns. Instead of postponing until summer 2022, though, the "Amarillo by Morning" singer has rescheduled the show for Nov. 13, 2021.
Fans who already have tickets to the previously scheduled dates can just hang onto them, or they now have a 30-day window to seek refunds at the original point of purchase. New tickets can also be purchased via Ticketmaster. Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town are both still scheduled as the opening acts.
Minneapolis was one of only three cities to have Strait dates re-booked from 2020, and one of those — an outdoor stadium gig in South Bend, Ind. — has been outright canceled. Two more shows in Las Vegas are pending.
U.S. Bank Stadium has already seen Kenny Chesney's summer date postponed once again to June 5, 2022. The classic-rock quadfecta with Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison and Joan Jett at the stadium on July 8 is officially still on the books but also likely to be rescheduled. Stay tuned for an announcement.
Another big concert that was slated to hit Minneapolis in July, Roger Waters' This Is Not a Drill Tour, has also been postponed again at Target Center. In that case, the makeup date is a whole year-plus away: July 30, 2022. Same deal with tickets.
Target Center also rescheduled its two sold-out Rage Against the Machine dates for May 15-16, 2022, but it still has one pending summer date with Justin Bieber on June 19. Twin Cities Beliebers can also surely stop believing that one will go on as planned.
