With upward of 1,900 seats, the Ordway Center for Performing Arts was never the perfect venue for chamber music. But now there's a concert hall designed specifically for the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, with a cozier feel and visual flourishes to match the musical talent. Designed by Minneapolis architect Tim Carl, the hall's loveliest quality is an undulating mahogany ceiling, an acoustic feature that also pleases the eyes. With just 1,100 seats, the hall has a communal feel, as if the musicians and their audience are huddled around a campfire. 345 Washington St., St Paul; 651-224-4222; ordway.org
