Twins rookie Miguel Sano was named to the 2015 All-Rookie team by Topps, the trading-card manufacturer that sponsors the annual award. But Sano's teammate, outfielder Eddie Rosario, was passed over for the team in favor of outfielders who played far fewer games last season.
Randal Grichuk of St. Louis, Kyle Schwarber of the Cubs and Michael Conforto of the Mets were selected for the team ahead of Rosario, who won a regular job in left field in early May. Rosario played 122 games, or almost as many as Schwarber, who played 69 games, 42 of them in the outfield, and Conforto, who played in 56, combined. Rosario's 474 plate appearances were more than Schwarber and Conforto's combined.
Rosario batted .269 with 13 home runs, 50 RBIs and 11 stolen bases, and while his OPS of .748 was surpassed by Schwarber's .842 and Conforto's .841, he also led the major leagues with 15 triples and finished second in outfield assists with 16.
Sano, who hit 18 home runs as the Twins' designated hitter after his July 2 debut, finished third in AL Rookie of the Year voting this week. He joins Danny Santana, named to the All-Rookie team last season, as the only Twins to be named All-Rookie since Ben Revere in 2011.
