A Pacific storm dipping unusually far south will bring rare summer rain toCalifornia Tuesday and Wednesday.As the storm nears the coast Tuesday, the leading edge of rain will spreadashore from San Francisco northward.

The low pressure will head inland Wednesday, triggering showers and a fewthunderstorms across the northern half of the state.

The upcoming rain would not be the first for June 2011. Rain, some heavy, fellthroughout northern and central California early in the month during anotherunusual storm.

East of this storm, the jet stream will lift northward and allow unseasonableheat to build from the Desert Southwest into the Rockies. Temperatures willaverage 8-12 degrees above normal over the entire region.
