Peter Birkeland, the program manager overseeing RAIN Source Capital's angel investment funds, is leaving the company Monday to accept a job as CFO-in-residence for consulting firm Cahill Adams, according to RAIN Source Capital.

"Any time you have someone that's been recruited away, it speaks to the caliber of their work," said Tonia Weber, Rain Source Capital's marketing manager. "It's just a testament to the positive impact that Pete has had on Minnesota's entrepreneurial community."

Birkeland had worked at St. Paul-based RAIN Source Capital for more than five years. Birkeland did not immediately return a call for comment.

Rain Source Capital announced last year it planned to create 121 angel investment funds in the nation over the next five years to provide money for early stage companies. The company, which develops networks of angel investors, said each fund would be worth at least $1 million.
