If you usually drive on Hwy 52 between Concord Street and Interstate 94 in St. Paul, you'll want to pay close attention to detours to alternate routes on Thursday, April 4 after 9 p.m. The roadway will close overnight as crews cast the concrete deck for the cross-over on the new Lafayette Bridge.
Northbound Highway 52 is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Friday, April 5.
The temporary bypass is also being built to accommodate Central Corridor Light Rail Transit's (CCLRT) construction schedule.
When the crossover is completed and traffic shifted to it on April 19 and 20, weather permitting, all vehicles or vehicle combinations of 35 feet or longer will be prohibited from crossing the Mississippi River on the Highway 52 Lafayette Bridge and must exit prior to or at Plato Boulevard.
Emergency vehicles will be permitted to use the crossover, as well as school buses.
