The Minneapolis Institute of Art is canceling its annual Art in Bloom fundraiser, originally scheduled for April 23-26. The museum remains closed through April 30 in an effort to halt the spread of the novel coronavirus.
"While we are saddened to cancel this year's Art in Bloom event, Mia is committed to doing what is best for our community in these uncertain times," said Katie Luber, Nivin and Duncan MacMillan director and president of the Minneapolis Institute of Art in an email.
For the annual Art in Bloom fundraiser, florists are invited to create arrangements inspired by artworks from Mia’s collection. Proceeds go toward helping bus schoolchildren to the museum to see artwork.
“We hope that even though we are unable to hold the event this year, people will still make a donation to support these vital programs at the museum,” said Luber.
