Live Action Set is doing the smart Minnesota thing: spending January down south. The kinetic, inventive troupe loaded up two vans and hit the road at 5 a.m. Thursday. They will do 13 performances of "The 7-Shot Symphony," which won Ivey recognition last September. Miami, Naples, Sanibel Island and Ft. Myers are on the schedule, followed by stops in Louisville and Memphis on the way home.

"The 7-Shot Symphony" mixes seven myths from the ancient world with iconography from the Old West (via Sergio Leone). Live music accompanies a stylized physical pantomime that is the Live Action Set's signature. Noah Bremer is the group's artistic director and Joanna Harmon is the executive director.

Harmon said the tour is self-funded. The group did a performance of the show in December to raise money and dipped into the bank account.

"We hope we come back with smiles on our faces," Harmon said.
