Support Our Fashion

When Minneapolis' hardest-working boutique and its hardest-working designers join forces, there's no stopping the wave of fashion. Cliché's fourth anniversary show promises to be its biggest and best yet, with summer and pre-fall collections from 16 local designers such as Kerry Riley, Kimberly Jurek and Laura Fulk, paired with the store's talented crew of accessories designers. The show will also launch the first retail collections of Voltage designers Ivan Idland and Maritza Ramirez and Emily Weich, as well as recent fashion-school grads Renate Adjei and Jenny Carle. Designers most deserving of attention include Pather Yang, Kimberly Jurek and Swank Dollar (Annie Larson), whose all-new summer collection will be monochromatic, with matching scrunchies (!) and backpacks. Also look for strong pre-fall collections from Arwyn Birch (eclectic yet mod) and Amanda Christine (structured yet feminine). The show's title, Support Our Fashion, is inspired by the slowing retail economy; Cliché owners Josh and Delayna Sundberg hopefully note that "through other 'rationing' times, pivotal fashion trends have been born."

Vampire-themed fashion show at Ground Zero

Killer fashion If you can't wait until Halloween -- or if Halloween is a way of life for you -- be sure to check out V, a vampire-themed fashion show. Goth-centric designers with names like Fauxface, Golgotha and Lord Bronz will show fashion "you can sink your teeth into." There's also music and theatrics by Vested Serpent, vampire-themed skits set to classic vampire films, and of course, blood. A dress code of "total vamp" is encouraged.
