Police searched the home of a convicted pedophile whom they suspected in a burglary and, instead, found child pornography on his computer, court documents said.
Cyrus M. Amundson, 33, of St. Paul, was charged Friday in Ramsey County District Court with one count of possession of child pornography by a pedatory offender. He was booked into Ramsey County Jail.
Amundson was convicted in 1997 of molesting a 6-year-old girl.
On Wednesday morning, police went to the 1000 block of Beech St. after a woman reported her apartment had been burglarized while she was taking her child to school. Amundson, who lives upstairs from the woman, consented to a search of his home, and officers found a picture of a nude child on his computer. Investigators later found pornographic video images of children from ages 9 to 11 and 14 to 16 on the laptop, the complaint said.
