And now, for a Michele Bachmann stir not of Bachmann's own making. The Minnesota Republican has been the subject of the political buzz machine since Monday night's appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where she was greeted Fallon's house band, the Roots, playing Fishbone's song "Lyin' A--- B---" (Interested readers can YouTube the full lyrics). Snarky intro songs are a regular schtick for guests on Fallon's show, but nevertheless the comedian apologized the next day. On Wednesday, amid a whirlwind media tour for her presidential campaign, Bachmann suggested that NBC might want to follow on Fallon's apology. "If that had been Michelle Obama, who'd come out on the stage, and if that song had been played for Michelle Obama, I have no doubt that NBC would have apologized to her," she told Fox News."This is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite." Bachmann's not the only one who also detected a hint of sexism. Congresswoman Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., has issued a statement saying that while he politics are nothing like Bachmann's, she found the song "insulting" and "inappropriate." NBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Star Tribune.
