See more of the story

First of all, here is my gamer and notebook from Minnesota United's 3-0 loss at Sporting Kansas City on Saturday.

In my notebook, I talked about the subs who haven't played in a while. I thought I'd also share here about two of the guys that came into the lineup for some of the missing guys. Jermaine Taylor came into Francisco Calvo's center-back spot and Collen Warner came into Sam Cronin's spot in the holding midfield. Calvo, along with midfielder Johan Venegas, are gone through June 14 on national team duty with Costa Rica. The league suspended Cronin earlier this week for a dangerous tackle last weekend against Orlando. (Forward Abu Danladi was also out with an injury.)

This was Taylor's first start since March 12 against Atlanta. He started the first two matches of the season, which United lost by 5-1 and 6-1 margins, as an outside back. He's been a standard on the bench, having made seven total appearances for the Loons,

Warner started the first seven matches of the season, but this was his first start since April 15. He's also a usual member of the match-day squad with 11 total appearances so far this season.

Also, I wrote this really cool story about some of the Loons' prematch grooming ritual. It's got great photos and videos (plus some decent writing, if I do say so myself). Definitely give it a read!
