Ralph Sampson III tweaked his ankle during Friday's practice and might miss Saturday's game against Ohio State as a result of the lingering injury, Tubby Smith said. Sampson's already missed back-to-back games with a sprained ankle, which injured in practice last week.

"Our situation ... Ralph, he practiced some [Thursday], but he tweaked his ankle again today, so I don't know what his status will be [Saturday]," Smith said.

Sampson warmed up with his teammates before Tuesday's 79-60 loss at Purdue. Smith said he considered playing Sampson against the Boilermakers but when Purdue started pulling away, he didn't think it was worth it.

"I wasn't sure, I thought he could play," Smith said. "But we were doing pretty good except we went through that stretch and then at that point and time, there's no reason to try to use him, once we got to that stage."

Smith said he might use Rodney Williams, Devron Bostick and/or Damian Johnson in the post against the Buckeyes, if Sampson can't go.

And after playing Paul Carter, who scored a team-high 15 points, only 14 minutes against the Boilermakers, Smith said he made a "coaching error" and should have given the junior forward more playing time.
