Maya Moore, entering her seventh season and turning 28 next month, is still revered as the best player in the WNBA.
The Lynx star was voted the Associated Press 2017 preseason player of the year this week and landed at No. 1 on The Summitt's WNBA Top 20 players list. Slyvia Fowles and Lindsay Whalen were also ranked.
"It's Maya's world," David Vertsberger wrote. "She's everything you could want in a player. On offense, it's an easy and efficient 20 points by way of post-up moves, jumpers off the catch and dribble, precise handles and plays. She's everywhere on defense, and does all the little things. Rebounds? Check. Dish? Check. Her killer instinct can't be taught."
Moore, the 6-foot forward, took the summer off and said she was able to focus on improving areas of her game she is already great at. Watch out.
Fowles, the Lynx 6-foot-6 center, appears at No. 7 on the Fansided Top 20 rankings and was touted as the "most steady" and "reliable" star in the league.
"On days Maya is off, Fowles is always there ready to protect the paint better than anybody," the article said. "Her low-post game is essentially an automatic go-to bucket. Her screens free up a ton of action. There isn't really a negative in her game."
Whalen, the veteran guard, finished off the rankings at No. 20.
"She's still a heady playmaker, finisher and defender," Vertsberger wrote, "and essential creator for one of the league's elite teams."
Lynx guard/forward Seimone Augustus was an honorable mention.
The Lynx kick off the 2017 season Sunday at 6 p.m. against Chicago at Xcel Energy Center.
