Cooler air being ushered into New England will clash will steamy air surginginto the mid-Atlantic from the South, and scattered storms will develop alongthe clashes of drastically different air masses.A few of the storms could become strong today, producing gusty winds, heavydownpours, hail and vivid lightning strikes. Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.,could be among the areas hit by storms.
Highs across a good part of Virginia are expected to rise into the 90s. Theunusual warmth and high humidity will make it feel more like the height ofsummer rather than early in June. In contrast, highs will reach only into the60s across northern New York and northern New England and the 70s in majorcities of southeast New England.
A disturbance will moves into the mid-Atlantic on Wednesday along the rim ofwarmth, increasing the threat for damaging storms. The storms will againthreaten to bring strong winds, hail and possibly even an isolated tornado.
