A major winter storm in the Northwest will dump 1 to 2 feet of fresh snowacross the Cascades through Friday. This storm will blanket the region west ofthe Cascades, including the valleys, which could get up 6 inches in spots.Ice will develop early Thursday night in the foothills of the Blue Mountains inWashington and Oregon, which will keep snow amounts down but make traveltreacherous.

Moderate snow will accumulate in the Sierra Nevada and northern Rockies. Rainwill fall along the coast with winds gusting to 40-60 mph.
