From Washington, D.C., to Boston, Monday will be the warmest day of themonth thus far, although the gusty wind will take away from the matter to someextent.A winter storm of moderate intensity will cut eastward near the Canadianborder, drawing warming across the Appalachians to the Eastern Seaboard.

Temperatures will soar to the 50s from northern Virginia to Long Island andsoutheastern New York state. Readings will reach the 40s northward into easternNew York through central and eastern New England.

At the same time, southwesterly winds will reach 20 to 40 mph, strong enough tomake it feel colder by 5 to 10 degrees than indicated by temperature alone.

Although a cold front will usher in short-lived colder weather on Tuesday, evenwarmer weather will spread over the East on Thursday and Friday.
