The Alliance Française at 113 N. 1st St. in Minneapolis' North Loop will hold a public event at 11:30 a.m. honoring the victims of the Charlie Hebdo killings, which have rightly been recognized as an attack on freedom of expression worldwide. A moment of silence, as requested by French President François Hollande, will follow at noon. Participants include Christina Selander Bouzouina, Honorary French Consul and the Alliance's Executive Director; Minneapolis City Council President Barb Johnson; Bruno Chaouat, the University of Minnesota's Department Chair of French/Italian; and Jonathan Kealing, Public Radio International and president-elect, Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists. Allons-y!
