The Twins on Friday announced a revised spring training schedule of 29 games, and the Twins will play only five other teams.

Major League Baseball reworked the spring schedules in Florida for health and safety reasons as the sport attempts to start the season on time in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. To reduce travel, most games will be played in the southwest Florida region against the Red Sox, who also train in Fort Myers; the Braves, who train in North Port; and the Rays, who train in Port Charlotte. The Twins, who will also play the Orioles and Pirates, will not have to travel more than 50 minutes for most of their spring schedule.

Their spring season begins on Feb, 28 with a home game against the Red Sox and ends on March 30 with a home game against Pittsburgh.

Home games at Hammond Stadium will be limited to 2,400 fans. Spring training ticket holders have exclusive access to single-game tickets beginning Thursday. The remaining tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Feb. 24. See twinsbaseball.com for details.

There is no public access to Hammond Stadium for workouts.

Twins pitchers and catchers report on Thursday with the first full squad workout scheduled for Feb. 23. Opening Day is scheduled for April 1 in Milwaukee.
