TWINS UPDATE
The Twins have lost nine of their past 10 games, and their past four in a row in Target Field, where they are 6-8 for the season. … They were swept by the Orioles at Camden Yards last month, and were outscored, 11-6. … The Twins are 10-11 all-time against the Orioles at Target Field, but 5-1 over the past two seasons. … Phil Hughes has allowed 10 hits in 19 career at-bats (.550) against Manny Machado, including two home runs. But Adam Jones is 9-for-51 (.176) with three homers. … The Twins trail Chicago by 13 ½ games in the AL Central, their largest deficit at this point of the season in franchise history. … The Twins have been successful on 15 of their past 18 stolen-base attempts.
ORIOLES UPDATE
These are Baltimore's only road games in a three-week span from April 28 to May 19. The Orioles are 5-7 away from home and have lost three of their past four. … Since opening the season 7-0, they have gone 11-12. … The Orioles haven't announced a starter for Wednesday because their rotation was disrupted by a rainout Friday that required a makeup doubleheader Saturday. They could call up a pitcher from the minors, or give a spot start to former Twins righthander Vance Worley, currently in their bullpen. … Machado, who leads the AL in hits (43) and doubles (15), is playing shortstop while former Twin J.J. Hardy is on the disabled list because of a fractured foot. Machado drove in six runs Sunday against Oakland with a grand slam and two-run homer. … Closer Zach Britton is 7-for-7 in save opportunities.
