St. Paul police are investigating a homicide after a man was shot in the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood on Tuesday night.

Police responded to the 1100 block of Pacific Street around 6:40 p.m. after a report that a man was shot, according to Sgt. Natalie Davis. When police arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made and police believe the act is not random. Anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650.

This is the city's first homicide since April and the 13th homicide this year, according to Star Tribune records. So far, 130 people have been injured by gunfire, up 7% from last year, according to Davis.

Homicide rates have dropped by 23%, she added. At the same time last year, St. Paul had 17 homicides.
