On their last day of kindergarten, the kids of Lake Country Montessori in Minneapolis know what comes next: "Fly Up." Teachers, parents and other family members line a "runway" on the school grounds. One by one, the children's names are called. They spread their arms like a bird, speed down the runway and take imaginary flight up to the school's second floor, where they will join the older kids in class next year. Above, 6-year-old Rohan Mittra takes off as his father, Rob Mittra, takes photos. "We'd love to keep you," said Elisabeth Raasch of Lake Country, "but you're so ready for elementary school. Put your wings up and fly away."
