Baltimore --

This is my 26th year covering the Twins, and one of a handful of opening days I've spent at Camden Yards.

This is the crossroads of my personal and professional baseball experiences.

My family moved frequently when I was young, and the handful of years I spent in Baltimore influenced me more than any of our other stops. I became a baseball fan by watching the great Orioles teams, and reading about Earl Weaver's strategies. I knew then I would want to write about baseball.

I got my first chance to cover the game on a regular basis in 1993, when I covered the Twins for the Star Tribune.

So, for me, watching the Twins on Opening Day in Camden Yards, which remains one of the best ballparks in existence, is about as good as it gets.

Phil Miller and I are in Baltimore covering Game 1. Please check startribune.com and the actual paper for our work.

Enjoy the season, and thanks for reading.
