U.S. Rep. John Kline, the ranking Minnesota Republican in Congress, is headed to the White House Thursday morning to parlay with President Obama on education reform. It will be their first personal encounter since nearly a year ago, when Kline participated in a health care summit with the president. (see accompanying photo, with Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan looking on in the middle). As chairman of the House Education and Workforce Committee, Kline is expected to play a big role in shaping the next incarnation of the Bush-era No Child Left Behind law. Accompanying him to the White House will be the "Big 8" in education policy: the chairmen and ranking members of the four committees of jurisdiction in the House and Senate.
