The Des Moines Register reports slow going for the Pawlenty campaign in Iowa this week. "Eight Iowans gathered in a semi-circle at a bakery in one of the more conservative pockets of the state," writes Pawenty watcher Jens Krogstad, who trekked to a Pawlenty presidential campaign event at Casey's Bakery in Sioux Center Tuesday morning. Two other events yesterday were cancelled "with little or no notice." One was a visit for the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Shop in Le Mars. ("The shop is in the process of moving locations, which resulted in a miscommunication on where the event was to be held, a campaign aide said"). A town hall meeting at a Sioux City public library also dropped off the schedule due to rising flood waters. The campaign didn't want to conflict with a call for volunteer sandbag fillers. "Pawlenty instead put in some time filling sandbags," the Register reported.
