Two hair salons were disciplined by the Minnesota Board of Cosmetologist Examiners in September and October. Fantastic Sam's in Chanhassen allowed an employee to work without a proper license, according to an order by the board, which also stated that the salon had run out of disinfectant on more than one occasion in the past four years. The salon was fined $350. Headquarters Salon Inc. in downtown St. Paul violated conditions of an earlier board order when it failed to achieve a high enough score on an inspection. A $1,000 penalty that was previously stayed after a 2010 inspection was imposed in September. The prior order cited the salon for sanitation violations, operating on an expired license and allowing employees to work without a current license. Read the Fantastic Sam's order here.
