Eder covered education for The Oregonian for three years with a particular focus on marginalized students and systemic inequities. Before that, he wrote about music and pop culture on the trending desk, a time during which he was also the newspaper's lead protest reporter. Prior to his six years at The Oregonian, he spent six months reporting on county government in southern Oregon for The Daily Courier in Grants Pass. He attended the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication. He was born in Mexico and his family immigrated to the United States when he was 2.
