We have a wealth of wonderful publishers in Minnesota, some with national reputations. But one tiny press stands out for its beautiful, high-quality books. For 20 years, Red Dragonfly Press, the press-in-residence at the Andersen Center in Red Wing, has been producing lovely collections of poetry and essays, elegant letterpress chapbooks and the occasional gorgeous limited edition. It has published such venerable writers as Joyce Sutphen, Thomas R. Smith, John Calvin Rezmerski and Freya Manfred. A nonprofit, it was founded by Scott King, a poet who still serves as editor and publisher. Tip: While these books are carefully and beautifully tended, the press is not stuck in time — some of its collections are available as e-books. reddragonflypress.org
